We collaborated with Universal Design Studio to create a pavilion of repetition. From the structure itself to the programme of events curated to happen within its “walls” the On repeat pavilion explored where the mind goes when repetitive activities are being performed. While focus is required to accomplish a particular task at hand, some neuroscientists argue that it is the state of non-focus that gives us our most creative thoughts. A seemingly counterproductive experiment to be carried out by a work space provider, however we recognise that it’s in allowing our minds to wander into a daydreaming state that lets signals flow freely in the brain, lets us make random associations and connect the previously unconnected. In other words, giving yourself a brain break from the daily work grind can therefore improve your performance, encourage relaxation and have a positive impact on your mental wellbeing.
