Historically, Wimpole Street has been known for two main contributions: the musical and the medical. For the former, the classical cognoscenti love Wigmore Hall, just around the corner, one of the finest chamber music venues in the country. WImpole Street itself was once home to Paul McCartney, who wrote Yesterday here at his then girlfriend Jane Asher’s parents' house. Regarding the latter, along Wimpole Street and neighbouring Harley Street, you’ll find every conceivable medical service and therapy: here, too, is the Royal Society of Medicine, with a fascinating progamme of events.
